I went to check out The Queers on Sunday night at The Crowbar in Ybor City. I was totally expecting a busier show than it was but it was a Sunday Night. I was also expecting it to be a bunch of old crusty punks and although there were alot of guys like me the crowd had a pretty broad range of age. Which I was happy about seeing the Queers carrying on to new generations of Punk Kids. I missed The Caffiends, But got there in time to see Feral Babies, I loved these guys quick fast old school punk rock! Thats what its all about and these guys delivered! If you get a chance check them out and pick up a copy! Next up was a band from Riverside, CA called Knockout. They had a good mix of straight up punk and some impressive Ska. Then onto the Queers! Great set as always going from one song into another & another & another playing a good range of Queers classics. Above is one of the videos I was able to capture from the show. It’s the Queers covering Black Flag’s “White Minority” Enjoy! And A round of Tacos & Beer go out to Thx Mgmt for promoting the show and supporting kickass bands!

I love Less Than Jake! Here’s a video clip of them doing “Does The Lion City Still Roar” from The Orlando Calling Festival. and a big SCREW YOU! goes out to Orlando Calling’s Merch co. for stopping Less Than Jake from selling a handful of $5 EP’s because they didn’t get a cut of the profits. Maybe they thought it would take away from those people buying $35 festival shirts. total Bullshit! Anyways, enjoy the clip and as always just a head’s up on my video clips. I shoot all my videos as a fan of these bands. and from the perspective as if you were there in the crowd checking out the band yourself. Also, Less Than Jake just released a new EP. If you can’t find it in your LOCAL INDEPENDENT Record Store, you can click here and buy it through Less Than Jakes page.

Rey Roldan is a huge supporter of music and a publicist for many bands Including Less Than Jake. So when Rey had a house fire recently that left him with several thousands of dollars in damages. Paper + Plastick Records founder and Less Than Jake Drummer Vinny Fiorello decided to put together a 40 song compilation that’s available to download for a minimum donation of $1! That’s only 2 and a half cents a song! I would hope you would give more, but every dollar counts! Click here to go to the page to donate & download.

Over lunch today I was checking out the new disc from Psychobilly band The Brains called “Drunk Not Dead” and I gotta be honest as much as I like Pschobilly there’s times when more than 20 minutes or half hour is plenty. That’s why I love Warped Tour! every band gets 20 minutes. If their good, they leave you wanting more and will go check them out next time they tour in your area. If you hate them, then you only have to tolerate them for a few more minutes. These guys however are really good! from start to finish the disc reminded me of The Misfits style with some upright bass thrown in plus they had a few fast ones in there to pick up the pace. Nonetheless give them a shot! Their disc is out on Stomp Records out of Canada and if you’re ordering this one online definitely check out another band of theirs called The Planet Smashers. I absolutely love those guys! For lunch I had a soft chicken taco from Tijuana Flats and a PBR to wash it all down. It was like the perfect trifecta for lunchtime!

The guys at Paper + Plastick Records are offering up a free stream of the new EP from We Are The Union. The EP titled “Graveyard Grins” contains a Descendents cover as well as 3 new songs. Check it out in its entirety here.
